About the physician

A primary care doctor who knows your history.

Dr. Gurinder Narain is an internist — a physician trained specifically in the diagnosis and long-term management of adult illness. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, a UCLA-affiliated program, and has practiced at 800 N Street in Sanger since 2003, caring for many families across two and three generations.

Internal medicine is the specialty for grown-up problems: the conditions that build slowly, overlap with one another, and need a doctor who remembers what happened last year. When a patient comes home from a hospital stay, Dr. Narain picks the care back up in the office — reviewing what happened, reconciling the new medication list, and making sure nothing falls through the gap between discharge and recovery.

  • Same physician at every visit — not a rotating panel
  • Follow-up in the office after a hospital stay
  • Medicare annual wellness visits and advance care planning
  • Referrals to specialists throughout Fresno County
What we treat

Complete adult primary care, in one office.

From the annual physical to the complicated chronic condition that three other doctors are also involved in.

A blood pressure cuff being fitted during a check-up

Chronic disease management

Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thyroid disease, asthma and COPD, arthritis — monitored over time, with medications adjusted as your body changes.

Preventive care & physicals

Annual exams, Medicare wellness visits, cancer screening referrals, immunizations, and the lab work that catches problems before you feel them.

Same-week sick visits

Infections, injuries, stomach trouble, coughs that won’t quit. Call in the morning — established patients are usually seen quickly.

After a hospital stay

Just discharged? Bring your paperwork to the office. Dr. Narain reviews what happened, sorts out the medication changes, and takes the care forward from there.

Medication management

Refills, interaction reviews, and simplifying long lists — especially after a hospital stay or a new specialist prescription.

Advance care planning

An unhurried conversation about what you want, documented properly, so your family and your doctors are working from the same page.

After a hospital stay

Coming home from the hospital is where the gaps happen.

Dr. Narain does not round on patients in the hospital. He does pick their care back up in the office once they are home — going through the discharge paperwork, reconciling the medications that changed, and scheduling the follow-up that keeps a readmission from happening. Patients discharged from any of the medical centers serving Fresno County are welcome to bring their records in.
